Denise Provost Statement

Thank you very much for the opportunity to submit a letter to you regarding a possible endorsement for my re-election campaign. I would be delighted to have the support of the Progressive Democrats of Somerville, and I am pleased to share with you my legislative priorities and accomplishments concerning progressive values.

During my two years at the State House, I have worked hard on several initiatives that have brought about positive changes for the people of Somerville and the Commonwealth as a whole. Since my swearing-in as State Representative in February, 2006, my work has brought about substantial increases in state funding for Somerville schools, state aid for various local programs and infrastructure, passage of the highest minimum wage in the nation, the inclusion of $600 million for the Green Line extension to Somerville and Medford in the Transportation Bond Bill, and an important victory for equal marriage in Massachusetts.

I look forward to continuing my advocacy for other important issues as well. I am pursuing the environmental justice goals of making the Mystic River cleaner and more accessible and improving our air quality. I'm working to improve health care availability and safety, to make public transportation affordable and convenient, and to gain better wages for human service workers, and paid sick leave for all.

Thank you for the important work the organization does, and for extending this invitation to me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Very truly yours,

State Rep. Denise Provost
