PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF SOMERVILLE ENDORSE CANDIDATE IN 2014 34th MIDDLESEX STATE REP ELECTION

Somerville, MA. Members of the Progressive Democrats of Somerville (PDS) have voted to endorse Christine Barber in her primary race for the House seat formerly held by Carl Sciortino.

PDS members voted to endorse Christine Barber because of her progressive values, her greater experience working on policy and legislative issues, including experience working on the State's health care law, and her long-time activism on behalf of progressive issues and candidates

Democratic voters will elect the Democratic Candidate for the 34th Middlesex seat in a primary election on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

In the lead-up to the endorsement balloting, PDS co-sponsored a well-attended candidates forum (moderated by Former Representative Sciortino) on June 29, and invited all candidates to respond to our endorsement questionnaire, which covered a wide range of statewide and local issues, including, for example, education, health care, housing, taxes, energy, climate change, expansion of the Green Line, the Mystic River watershed, etc. Links to both a videotape of the candidates forum and to candidates' responses to the endorsement questionnaire are available on our PDS website at http://www.pdsomerville.org/node/260
