PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF SOMERVILLE ENDORSE CANDIDATE LANCE DAVIS IN 2015 WARD 6 ALDERMAN ELECTION

Somerville, MA: Members of the Progressive Democrats of Somerville (PDS) have voted to endorse Lance Davis in his race for the Ward 6 Alderman seat.

Ward 6 voters will choose two of four candidates in the Preliminary Election on Thursday September 17 to move on to the General Election on Tuesday November 3, 2015.

In the lead-up to the balloting all four candidates in the race sought the PDS endorsement and responded to our questionnaire which covered a wide range of issues including affordability, jobs, addiction crisis, the environment and development are available on our PDS website at http://www.pdsomerville.org/node/268. The official process requires a candidate to win 66.66% of all votes cast to win the endorsement. It is a high threshold to meet and not every process held results in an endorsement. In this race Lance Davis exceeded that number.

Voting members were asked for comments on what they liked about the candidates and why they voted the way they did. Some comments about Lance Davis included:

“He has clear goals on what our community can be. He is inclusive and a supporter of affordable housing. Open to working with others, with strong commitment."

“He has recognition that selling public land is short-sighted.”

“He is a more seasoned candidate related to local issues. He is involved in more local organizations than others. He -understands family issues firsthand."

“He understands the Community and what work has been done and what needs to be done.”

“He has a knowledge of local issues; sense of commitment to solutions and identification of key issues for Ward 6 and entire city.”
